Welcome to the homepage of our international EuroBABEL research project "Ob-Ugric languages"!

Khanty and Mansi are endangered indigenous languages of Western Siberia. Together they form the Ob-Ugric subbranch of the Finno-Ugric/Uralic language family. The Ob-Ugric languages have been investigated since the 19th century, but most of this material – grammars, dictionaries, text collections, studies on folklore and ethnography – is not easily accessible, does not correspond to modern scholarly standards or is written in languages less widely known by Western scholars. We seek to remedy this by offering accessible and usable resources:

“Ob-Ugric languages: conceptual structures, lexicon, constructions, categories”
